Who I am
My name is Tanner Michael King Harrington, and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music pursuing a Music Marketing Major with a focus on piano performance and pedagogy.
I am a pianist with a large repertoire that I build on daily which ranges from classical music to pop culture music. Some of my favorite classical composers are Frédéric Chopin, Alexander Scriabin, Maurice Ravel, Claud Debussy, and the well-known Ludwig van Beethoven.
I have been in love with playing piano and studying music since I was 7 years old. It is my goal in life to continue teaching and performing piano for the rest of my life. I have been teaching piano and music theory for a number of years, and I am readily available to teach new students. I would be overjoyed to teach anyone, whether young or old, beginner or expert.
It is my goal to make any of your musical dreams come true since I am so blessed to have mine come true. As a child, I always loved playing the piano for others, and I never would have thought that I would get to do it professionally. When I play for an audience or even a small crowd, I can’t quite express the happiness that I feel. To know that my music is touching at least one soul brings me overwhelming joy. Not only that but to be able to give that gift of playing and performing, or even just understanding music, to others is something I will never take for granted. I love teaching people piano and music theory because I believe that music is a beautiful, universal language that everyone should know to an extent. Whether you are a parent of a child who has never touched the piano, you’re a teen looking for a new hobby, or you’re an adult who thinks that their chance to learn piano is a thing of the past, your chance to make music come alive is never over. I would love to take that first step with you!
